Spring Shawl KAL Chinese Lace

Free Knitting Pattern

Welcome to the third part of your new Spring Shawl, Chinese lace. The stitch count is now starting to get up there with every doubling as you change patterns, you'll be at 380sts by the end of this section.

As there are now significantly more stitches required each part is released weekly to give time to stay on track. Remember though there is no pressure to keep up, this is not a timed challenge. I want everyone to enjoy the process rather than feel under pressure to perform in a particular way.

I'm loving all the progress pics, please share them either in the comments below or in our FB group Yarn Jugglers. Use the hashtag #GCWBspringshawlKal2021 so I can find any shared on social media too. I can then add them to stories to inspire others too!

Remember to use as many stitch markers to separate repeats as you need. You may begin to learn to 'read' your stitches as you go. If not no worries this is a skill which comes with time and experience.

If you are looking for yarn requirements they are in the overview post, along with links to all the released parts of this KAL.

If you are looking for the paid PDF pattern for this shawl it was released for sale on 22nd February 2021 so you can get your own copy here.

Pattern Notes

Lace patterns used in the main sections are charted and each section has its own charts.

Remember to wrap your yarn twice around the needle when creating a YO followed by a purl stitch.

I strongly recommend using stitch markers between each lace repeat.

Do not forget to include the final YO before the stitch marker when following the lace patterns and working the middle round for the increase section.

If you are working the striped version all increases are in C2. If you are working in a solid or long gradient ignore the colour change instructions throughout.

Sharing is Caring

Sharing is caring in everything that we do in our world of yarn. The more you share this event (and others) online, the more people visit the site and you help support me. That is how designers get noticed and it helps to grow reputation for the blogs you enjoy.

I've created some images if you want to use them, all 4 shown below, to share info about the KAL with others. Instagram, facebook and stories sized graphics are ready for you to use.

As we all work through the Spring Shawl KAL 2021 I ask that you use our hashtag to share and make a great gallery of what you are working on.

This was my favorite stitch pattern of the project, I think. But it was also where it became apparent that a lifeline was my friend!

Replying to

This time around my stitch definition was even cleaner and I really got an added appreciation for all the individual leaves.
