A fun and fast make for applique, wizards robes, witches wands, Fairy Godmother's wands and of course our very own Winter Fir Teacosy.
This video tutorial shows how to create a simple 5 pointed star, starfish or sunburst. The patterns is written below and the video walks you through the process with both US and UK terms. I also show how to use a Magic Loop to cast on as an added bonus.
As the amount of yarn used is small this is an excellent scrap yarn project. If you don't already collect your scraps please start as it can be a really economial way to make things in the future.

Instructions UK Terms
Chain 4 sts, sl st into first st to form circle.
Round 1: Ch 3, 14 tr, slst into top of turning chain. 15sts
Making Points
Row 2: *Slst, ch 4, dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr, 1 tr, sl st; rep from * until 5 points worked.
Fasten off
Instructions US Terms Chain 4 sts, sl st into first st to form circle.
Round 1: Ch 3, 14 dc, slst into top of turning chain. 15sts
